Domestic UV–Curable Coatings for Optical Fiber
The article presents a review of domestic developments in coatings for fiber optics (FO). The results of testing primary and secondary UV- and LED-curable coatings for optical fiber, namely Acrolat OVP‑1, Acrolat OVP‑1 LED, Acrolat OVP‑2, and Acrolat OVP‑2 LED, are reported. These materials are analogues of Covestro products DeSolite DS 1004 and DS 2015 in terms of technological, thermomechanical, and performance characteristics. Compositions of the Acrolat OVP‑1 and Acrolat OVP‑2 types are characterized by rapid curing under UV irradiation in the wavelength range of 200–400 nm and are suitable for both wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry application processes. Currently, these materials are undergoing industrial trials. Samples of quartz-quartz optical fiber coated with these materials meet established geometric and optical requirements, and also withstand the specified rewinding force and retain their properties after bending tests, demonstrating performance comparable to fibers manufactured with imported coatings.
