Selective laser melting (SLM) technology has become firmly established in the development of new products, no longer being perceived as an innovative experiment. At the current stage of the industry’s development, the key challenge is scaling this experience: additive solutions must become a cost-effective choice for medium-sized industrial enterprises across various sectors. Dmitry Vasiliev, General Director of Laser Systems JSC, Candidate of Technical Sciences, discussed ways to overcome industry conservatism, identify areas of maximum SLM efficiency, and why additive products should become serial standards rather than unique laboratory samples.
